The Walkaways at Westover Beer Garden

6-9pm. The Walkaways play a blend of original music primarily described as alt-country and Americana. Their sound also incorporates elements from folk, roots rock, country, indie folk, blues, and classic rock. They draw influences from artists like Ryan Adams, Son Volt, Wilco, Springsteen, Uncle Tupelo, and The Band. This diverse mix gives their music a rich, roots-oriented character with a metropolitan DC-based origin since 2006. Free; Westover Beer Garden.

Veronneau and Friends at Three Whistles

8-10pm. Expect an intimate show featuring multilingual, jazzy songs blending bossa nova, French chanson, and more. The duo's heartfelt vocals and guitar create a strong connection with audiences through themes of love and friendship. Their shows are energetic, engaging, and creatively refreshing, earning them awards and acclaim. It's a memorable musical journey worth experiencing (AI wrote this for me). The venue, Three Whistles, should add to the sense of intimacy.

Saturday (5/3)

Ladywood at Ballston Local

8-11pm. Ladywood is an acoustic duo featuring Rick Hegg and Greg Hamilton. Guest drummer John Cunningham may show up, too. They play a cool mix of covers from an unexpected assortment of bands like the Stones and The Who, REM and the Cure, Son Volt and Ryan Adams, and TLC and Taylor Swift. You won't hear the Beatles, Eagles or anything even remotely related to Yacht Rock, so please don't ask. These guys are a lot of fun and know how to take it to eleven. Free; Ballston Local.

(Afterwords, you might want to consider heading to The Renegade to catch The Fearless Eras (9:30pm-1:30; $10; Taylor Swift Tribute band). They are pretty new, so not sure how good they might be, but chances are you won’t hear the two female vocalists much over everyone else singing along, including yourself.)

Misil Stereo and Gustavo Cerati at The State Theater

8:30pm. This is a tribute band to Soda Stereo (Who, you ask? Only one of the most influential Spanish Rock bands from the 80/90’s era, of course). Don’t know much about all this, but Gustavo Cerati (originally in Soda Stereo) has close to 3 million Facebook followers and sold 10 million records, so he might be pretty good. $30, The State Theater.
